Balogun out for 8 weeks

Leon Balogun could be out for eight weeks after suffering a fractured foot in Wednesday night's 0-0 draw against Mexico. The defender, who came on for Efe Ambrose in the second half, lasted barely five minutes before he took a tumble over the advertising hoardings and was promptly replaced by Azubuike Egwuekwe.Nigeria team doctor Ibrahim Gyaran briefed coach Stephen Keshi about the injury and recommended surgery for the Fortuna Dusseldorf full-back when he returns to Germany."Super Eagles doctor Ibrahim Gyaran told Keshi that it was the best option open to the young defender and the surgery will effectively rule him out for up to eight weeks," said media officer Ben Alaiya. "That may give him enough time to quickly bounce back and rejoin the national
team ahead of preparation for the World Cup in May if invited."The medics explained that if he does not carry out any surgery, it will take him a longer time to return to action [up to 4months] hence the surgery option."His club medics have already been briefed about the development as Keshi says his immediate concern for the player is about his health."
