Reality TV mogul Kim Kardashian is being sued for libel and slander by a man who claims she wrongfully identified him in a social media post about a death row inmate of the same name.
According to TMZ, Ivan A. Cantu alleges that Kardashian’s February 2024 post used his photo instead of the actual Texas inmate awaiting execution, urging her followers to sign a petition to halt the sentence. He claims the misidentification caused him public embarrassment, hatred, and PTSD, leading to medical and emotional distress.
Kim’s Legal Team Responds
Kardashian’s attorney, Michael Rhodes, acknowledged the mistake, stating:
“It was a simple mistake of using a public photo of another man with the same name to promote Kim’s longstanding commitment to criminal justice reform. The image was taken down almost immediately once the error was discovered. We’d prefer to solve this without litigation, but of course, will defend Kim as needed.”
