Nigerian singer, Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has shared his perspective on Jesus in Islam, emphasizing that belief in Jesus (Isa) is essential for every true Muslim.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the singer wrote:
“No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus (Peace be upon him).”
His statement has since sparked a heated debate among Christians and Muslims in the comment section, with many discussing the significance of Jesus in both faiths.
Religious Context
In Christianity, Jesus is regarded as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. However, in Islam, Jesus (Isa, peace be upon him) is considered a prophet of God who was sent to the Children of Israel with the Gospel (Injil).
Naira Marley’s statement aligns with Islamic teachings, as the Qur’an affirms Jesus’ prophethoodand miraculous birth. However, Muslims do not believe that Jesus is divine or the son of God.
Ramadan Reflections
