Kanye West has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to launch a scathing attack on Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us,” aimed at Drake.
In a series of posts on Tuesday morning, the 47-year-old rapper not only criticized Lamar’s hit song but also accused music industry executives of attempting to silence him.
West revealed that he was initially invited to feature on a remix of “Like That” by Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar, but was later removed after mentioning Lucian Grainge, the chairman of Universal Music Group. He suggested that this move was a deliberate effort to keep him out of major industry conversations.
Regarding “Not Like Us”, West bluntly stated that he dislikes the song and has never enjoyed any of Kendrick Lamar’s music. He further boasted about his influence in shaping the careers of numerous American rappers, implying that Lamar’s success is insignificant compared to his own impact.
Despite West’s criticism, “Not Like Us” was a major success, winning five awards at the 67th Grammys, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
West’s remarks have since ignited debates within the hip-hop community, with fans taking sides in the ongoing tension between these rap icons.
