Kim Kardashian Reportedly Seeking Custody Change After Kanye West’s Song Release

Reality star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian is reportedly considering modifying her custody agreement with ex-husband Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) after he released a song featuring their 11-year-old daughter, North West, without her approval.

According to TMZ, Kardashian is debating whether to take Ye to court and request that a judge strip him of joint legal custody over their children.

Kardashian and West, who were married in 2014, finalized their divorce in 2022, agreeing to joint physical and legal custody of their four children: North (11), Saint (9), Chicago (7), and Psalm (5).

The Custody Dispute Intensifies

The latest custody battle was triggered after Ye ignored Kardashian’s objections and released a track titled “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine.” The song, which features their daughter North, also includes embattled music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing multiple allegations of sexual assault.

Sources claim that physical custody has never been a major issue since West rarely spends time with his children. However, his legal custody rights—which allow him to have a say in important decisions about their upbringing—have now become a contentious issue between the exes.

Kanye Defies Kim’s Opposition

Under the couple’s divorce agreement, any major parenting disputes require both parents to attend a private judicial hearing alongside their attorneys and a mediator.

When Kardashian learned of Ye’s plans to release the song, she called for an emergency meeting to express her strong opposition. However, while Kim, her legal team, a judge, and a mediatorattended the session, Ye refused to show up.

Despite reportedly agreeing to hold off on the releaseYe went ahead and dropped the track a day later, sharing it on X (formerly Twitter) and stating that “men make the final decision.”

Kim Moves to Restrict Kanye’s Legal Custody Rights

Following Ye’s actions, Kardashian is now reportedly seeking legal intervention to limit his involvement in major parenting decisions, potentially stripping him of joint legal custody altogether.

The move could significantly reduce Ye’s influence over their children’s education, health, and other critical life choices, leaving Kim as the primary decision-maker.

While Ye has not publicly responded, this development sets the stage for another high-profile legal battle between the former couple.
