Nigerian music icon Davido has given fans a rare glimpse into his marriage with Chioma Adeleke, revealing that their union was built on nearly a decade of living together before making it official.
In a candid chat on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, the Afrobeats superstar shared how he met Chiomaduring his university days and how their early cohabitation made the transition into married life smooth but still challenging.
Davido on Their 8-Year Journey Before Marriage
“My partner and I have been living together for a long time prior to getting married. I met her in my third year in college, and I was lucky enough for us to move in together early—about eight years before we got married,” Davido revealed.
While their deep connection made marriage feel like a natural progression, he admitted that being married comes with its own set of responsibilities.
“The transition was smooth, but it’s different; getting married is no joke.”
Chioma’s Unwavering Support
Davido also took a moment to praise Chioma’s understanding nature, especially when it comes to his demanding music career.
“Throughout the time we were living together, I was touring and really on the road. She always understood what I did for work, and she knows I’m at my happiest when I work. She knows I love music as she loves being in the kitchen,” he added.
