Popular Yoruba actor and filmmaker, Abraham Cole, has strongly denied allegations that he had an affair with Dara, the estranged wife of fellow actor Ijoba Lande. The accusations, which surfaced in a viral video, suggested that Cole had ulterior motives for offering Dara a movie role.
In a recent interview on Babaibe TV, Cole dismissed the claims, stating that Lande’s accusations made “no sense” to him.
“Ijoba Lande is too small for me to fight with. I knew his wife before I met him, and she is like a sister to me because she respects me a lot.”
Cole explained that he cast Dara in one of his movies purely because she was suitable for the role.
“I never had sex with Lande’s wife. I called her for a movie because of her beautiful skin tone.”
He also revealed that he had booked a hotel for Lande during the movie shoot, only for the actor to later joke about him being involved with Dara. However, Cole didn’t take the joke lightly when he realized Lande had made public statements about it.
“He started telling me jokingly that I slept with his wife. I told him to stop making such expensive jokes, but I later found out he had already said something about me inside the car. If I had known, I wouldn’t have allowed him to take his phone home.”
Cole further clarified that he stopped casting Dara after discovering she was pregnant and that their communication was limited to mere greetings.
Now, the actor-producer has vowed to take legal action against Lande for what he sees as defamation of character.
“Lande will surely hear from my lawyer because he is only trying to defame me.”
The scandal has sparked heated discussions in the Yoruba movie industry, where both actors are well-known figures. While some industry watchers believe professional rivalry could be at play, others see it as a reflection of deeper tensions in Nollywood.
Despite the controversy, Cole remains firm on defending his reputation, making it clear that his priority is his thriving movie career rather than engaging in prolonged drama.
