Rapper calls NBA star “the nicest person” as she gushes over new love
Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson just made their romance official — and it’s giving full-on power couple vibes.
The Grammy-winning rapper and the NBA star hit the red carpet together for the first time on Wednesday (July 16) at the Pete + Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City, and Megan couldn’t stop beaming as she opened up about their relationship.
Describing their first encounter as straight out of a movie, the 30-year-old Hot Girl Summer hitmaker told People:
“Oh, we met and it was such a meet-cute, it was like a f****** movie. I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you when, but he’s the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”
Klay, 35, who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks, has been rumored to be dating Megan since earlier this month, when eagle-eyed fans spotted him in the corner of one of her Instagram photos. Now, those whispers have turned into full-on confirmation.
Speaking to Page Six, Megan revealed how deeply the relationship has impacted her:
“This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy. I’ve never dated somebody like him before. I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”
The pair’s red carpet appearance wasn’t just for show — it was a special night for Megan as she hosted the first-ever gala for her Pete + Thomas Foundation, named in honor of her late parents, Joseph Pete III and Holly Thomas.
The foundation, dedicated to supporting women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities, is a deeply personal project for the WAP rapper, who believes her family is proudly watching from above.
“I feel like they can see what I’m doing right now. I feel like they’re looking down on me from heaven, and they’re like, ‘Yes, daughter!’ I feel like my momma’s clapping. I feel like my daddy is like, ‘This is exactly what I knew my child was gonna do.’ I feel like they’re super proud.”
Megan and Klay’s chemistry didn’t go unnoticed online either. After she posted a steamy hot tub snap on July 9, with Klay spotted lounging in the corner, fans quickly put two and two together:
“Do we not realize Klay Thompson in the back?” one fan wrote.
“My guy Klay Thompson still shooting and not missing,” joked another.
With their red carpet debut now in the books, Megan and Klay just became one of the hottest celebrity couples of 2025.
