Jonas Brothers star reflects on emotional journey ahead of major tour
Nick Jonas has revealed how a deeply personal family struggle brought him and his loved ones even closer together. The singer recently spoke about his father Kevin Jonas Sr.’s colon cancer diagnosis, sharing that the emotional ordeal strengthened their bond as a family.
In an interview with People, Nick, 32, looked back on the 2017 diagnosis that shook the Jonas household. Their father was declared in remission in 2018, but the journey left a lasting impression.
“The more emotionally challenging periods really test your endurance,” Nick shared. “But [our dad] was such a champion and so brave through the whole process. It helped all of us a lot and provided us with the encouragement we needed — when in fact, we were just trying to support him.”
Nick continued, adding,
“Everyone has their own experience in life’s challenging moments, and I’m so grateful we’ve gotten to the other side of that and become closer as a family and stronger.”
JONAS20 Tour & Growing Fanbase
The Jonas Brothers are now preparing to hit the road with their JONAS20: Living the Dream Tour, celebrating two decades of music. The massive tour will kick off in New Jersey in August, covering 42 dates across the US and Canada.
Nick reflected on how their music continues to connect with fans of all ages:
“It’s aged very well. The fanbase has evolved. There’s a generational aspect to it now. The people that were our age back then are grown up, and now they’re bringing their kids to the shows — and their parents still want to come, too.”
The pop trio, made up of Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas, continue to celebrate their enduring legacy — and according to Nick, there’s something special about the way fans respond to different songs.
“It’s great to look out there and see such a really interesting mix and to see that the songs they respond to are a reflection of that,” he said.
Nick, who is married to actress Priyanka Chopra, appears to be balancing family, music, and personal reflection with grace — using both the highs and lows of life to fuel his journey forward.
