Tracee Ellis Ross is setting the record straight after a light-hearted travel comment spiraled into an unexpected internet rumor. The 52-year-old actress clarified that she absolutely does not travel with just two pairs of underwear, calling the suggestion “insane.”
The confusion began after her appearance at the Travel + Leisure World Summit, where she spoke about her carry-on essentials. Some listeners misinterpreted her words, assuming she only travels with two pairs of underwear total. Speaking on the TODAY show, Tracee cleared things up: “What I said was ‘in my carry-on.’ I usually bring two pairs of day undies, two pairs of sleeping undies, a nightie, flip flops, and a dress that can turn into night or day — in my carry-on.”
In reality, Tracee is a self-declared over-packer with a travel motto of “BIA – bring it all.” She admitted to checking a minimum of four bags when flying, adding, “I pack for beauty and disaster.”
Known for her candid humor, the Black-ish star revealed that she actually changes her underwear multiple times a day. “I did a hand-washing video and I put it on TikTok — I change my undies many times a day,” she said, calling the speculation “a ridiculous conversation” and laughing off the internet’s reaction.
While amused, she used the opportunity to give some practical advice for fellow travelers: “There’s certain delicates, you just wash them in your sink. I don’t really want anyone else touching my undies.”
Addressing the space dilemma of packing for long trips, she previously told T+L editor Jacqui Gifford, “If I’m gone for a month on this trip, you can’t pack a month’s worth of underwear. How do you do that? They take up a lot of space.”
Despite the absurdity of the topic, Tracee remains unfazed, adding, “People hear what they want to hear. It’s a dumb topic. There’s so many things going on. It’s hilarious.”
