Million
Fat Joe has opened up about the financial and personal toll his legal battle with former hypeman Terrance “T.A.” Dixon has taken, calling it a full-blown smear campaign fueled by false accusations and a failed extortion attempt.
According to newly obtained court documents, the Bronx rap icon has filed an amended complaint accusing Dixon and his attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, of orchestrating a wave of fabricated and scandalous claims designed to destroy his reputation and squeeze out a multimillion-dollar settlement.
Joe initially sued Dixon in April, accusing him of spreading lies in pursuit of a payday. The rapper now claims these allegations have cost him roughly $10 million in missed opportunities — including endorsement deals, podcast ads, TV appearances, and sales for his Rewind It grooming line. He’s seeking $15 million in damages plus interest.
Dixon, who worked closely with Fat Joe from 2006 to 2019, allegedly wasn’t satisfied with his earnings and began pursuing compensation for supposed ghostwriting and vocal contributions to tracks like “Congratulations,” “Ice Cream,” and “Money Over Bitches.” Joe maintains that Dixon was always paid appropriately.
Things escalated in March when Dixon and Blackburn reportedly sent a letter demanding money and threatening legal action. The next month, Joe says they took it further — threatening a lawsuit filled with shocking allegations including sex trafficking, pedophilia, and forced labor. Those claims later appeared in Dixon’s $20 million lawsuit, which Joe dismissed as baseless and malicious.
Calling the move a “blatant act of retaliation,” Joe’s attorney Joe Tacopina said: “The allegations against Mr. Joseph Antonio Cartagena are complete fabrications — lies intended to damage his reputation and force a settlement through public pressure. Mr. Cartagena will not be intimidated.”
Joe’s legal team is also taking aim at Blackburn’s credibility. The attorney was referred to the grievance committee in 2024 after a judge accused him of filing federal cases solely to gain media attention and shame defendants into settling.
Adding to the controversy, Blackburn was arrested earlier this year after allegedly striking a process server with his car — further complicating his involvement in the case.
Fat Joe remains firm in his stance and vows to hold both Dixon and Blackburn accountable.
