Tottenham Hotspur captain, Son Heung-min, has confirmed he will be leaving the North London club this summer after a remarkable 10-year spell.
The 33-year-old South Korean forward made the announcement during a press conference ahead of Spurs’ pre-season friendly against Newcastle United at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. Speaking alongside newly appointed manager Thomas Frank, Son expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans and explained his decision to move on.
“I leave this club as a man,” Son said emotionally. “Thanks to all the Spurs fans who’ve given me so much love. The main reason [for leaving] is I’ve achieved everything I can at Tottenham and I need a new environment for a fresh challenge.”
Son joined Tottenham in 2015 from German side Bayer Leverkusen and went on to become one of the club’s most iconic and beloved players. Known for his dazzling speed, incredible finishing, and humble personality, Son amassed over 350 appearances for the club, scoring consistently across all competitions.
His crowning moment came in May 2025 when he led Spurs to Europa League glory, defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the final — his first major trophy with the club.
Reports have linked him with a move to Major League Soccer, with Los Angeles FC said to be leading the race for his signature.
As Son prepares to start a new chapter, Tottenham and its global fanbase prepare to bid farewell to a true legend — a player whose loyalty, work ethic, and brilliance lit up the Premier League for a decade.
