“They Obviously Got an Album Coming Out” – Drake Claps Back at Critics Ahead of Iceman Release

Drake isn’t keeping quiet — again. The Toronto rap icon has stirred the pot with a new Instagram caption that sounds like a fresh lyric from his upcoming album Iceman.

On Saturday (August 2), Drizzy posted a photo of himself with the line:

“My first thought when they get to talking out the side of their mouth is never fear or doubt…it’s they obviously got an album coming out.”

Fans immediately took the caption as a slick jab at artists who’ve been mentioning him lately — a classic Drake move ahead of a major release. While the caption didn’t name-drop, speculation is flying.

One possible target? Waka Flocka Flame, who recently performed both Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” and Drake’s “Nokia” at a SeaWorld San Diego show. Waka didn’t hold back his thoughts on the now-legendary beef:

“Alright, I feel like Kendrick won, but I’m still a Drake fan, man,” he told the crowd.

But not everyone’s aiming shots at the 6 God. Some notable voices have come to Drake’s defense following criticism from Apple Music’s Ebro Darden, who recently questioned Drake’s cultural impact.

Dreamville rapper Bas clapped back at that narrative, writing under a clip from The Ebro Show:

“Drake is among the most, if not the most, inclusive of artists our culture has put forth… He’s pushed countless rappers to the forefront — dancehall artists, afrobeats artists, R&B artists, reggaeton, older artists, newer artists.”

Bas also took aim at those who dismiss Drake because of his Canadian roots:

“Toronto a hour flight from NYC lol. I’d argue their culture and ethnic makeup is more akin to NYC than pretty much any city in the States.”

Meanwhile, DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia praised Drake for reviving his production career:

“Best artist I’ve ever worked with… One track with him in 2019 totally rebirth my production to other big artists.”

As Iceman inches closer, it’s clear Drake is once again using subliminals and social media to fan the flames — and keep his name trending. Whether he’s responding to critics, throwing lyrical shade, or hyping his album, one thing is certain: Drake isn’t leaving the spotlight anytime soon.
