Meek Mill Reflects on Jay-Z Bond, Salutes Rick Ross and T.I. in Honest Posts

Meek Mill is getting reflective — and he’s not holding back.

On Friday, August 1, the Philly rap star took to X (formerly Twitter) to open up about his journey, the artists who influenced him, and his unique relationship with Jay-Z, whom he described as both a mentor and someone he doesn’t always “see eye to eye” with.

“Jigga my oldhead too… we don’t see eye to eye on every point because he a billionaire in another world and older than me,” Meek wrote. “But he my family too in my eyes. Gave my younger son his name, help get back home quicker to my older son! And gave me the blueprint!”

Despite their differences, Meek made it clear the Roc Nation boss played a major role in his life — both professionally and personally. Their bond is deeper than rap, with Meek pointing to real-life support and their shared work on REFORM Alliance, the criminal justice reform organization they co-founded in 2019.

Meek also gave props to Rick Ross and T.I., calling Ross his “brother” and praising his and Lil Wayne’s intense studio work ethic:

“I seen him and Wayne go to the studio til 8am get back up and follow back up the next day,” Meek wrote, contrasting that hustle with his early days in the hood where “n***as… waking up at 2pm.”

He credited that realization with pushing him toward the “rich route,” emphasizing the value of grinding in silence rather than complaining.

On T.I., Meek shared a heartfelt shout-out:

“The first to say I could be a major artist… [he] gave me a lot of my marketing.”

The rapper’s posts give fans a rare window into his mindset as he works on what he promises will be a legendary run.

“The point I’m making — I learn from the greatest directly,” Meek declared. “Ima be one of the greatest to ever do this s**t!”

With a legacy that includes street survival, chart-topping albums, prison reform advocacy, and wisdom from hip-hop giants, Meek Mill’s story is still very much being written.
