JID Drops Bombshell: 15-Track Collab Album with J. Cole Locked in the Vault

Hip-hop fans, it’s time to start praying to the rap gods — because JID just revealed he and J. Cole have a full 15-track album sitting quietly in the vault. And from the way he describes it, it’s pure fire.

Speaking on The Joe Budden Podcast, the Dreamville star casually dropped the news like it was nothing: “Me and Cole got a body, a 15-track smoker. Me and him, back and forth. We worked on this in New York… I ain’t never told nobody this. Sorry, Cole.”

While fans are still processing that bombshell, JID also gave a little update on Cole’s most anticipated project yet — The Fall Off. According to him, it’s going to be worth every second of the wait: “The Fall Off’s going to be really good. Y’all gonna see.”

The hype for Cole’s next album has been building for years, especially after his very public apology in April 2024 at the Dreamville Festival, where he expressed regret for his “7 Minute Drill” diss aimed at Kendrick Lamar during the infamous rap beef with Drake. True to the name of his surprise mixtape Might Delete Later, Cole actually deleted the track not long after.

For those keeping score, The Fall Off has been teased since Cole’s 2018 album KOD, where he titled the closing track “1985 (Intro to The Fall Off)”. Now, thanks to Cole’s longtime producer DZL, we’ve got even more reason to be excited. Speaking to Complex earlier this year, DZL promised the album would be Cole at his absolute best: “Top-tier raps, top-level storytelling… this project is going to give people a deeper insight into him as a man, a father, and a husband. No skips, top to bottom.”

Between a secret joint album and the long-awaited The Fall Off, it’s safe to say that Cole season is about to be in full effect — and fans are not ready.
