Start Your Engines! Disney & Pixar Announce New ‘Cars: Lightning Racers’ Series Coming in 2027

Disney and Pixar are back in the fast lane, and this time, they’re bringing fans a brand-new spin-off from their billion-dollar Cars franchise. After three years since Cars on the Road, the dynamic duo of Disney Television Animation and Pixar have officially unveiled Cars: Lightning Racers — set to premiere in 2027 on Disney Jr. and Disney+.

According to Disney, Cars: Lightning Racers will see the legendary Lightning McQueen rev up for fresh adventures in Radiator Springs alongside his fan-favorite best friend Mater. But that’s not all — the duo will be joined by two new high-octane buddies: thrill-seeking drag racer Pipes and mud-loving monster truck Miles. Expect plenty of laughs, races, and revs as the crew takes on new challenges.

Returning to voice their iconic characters are Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, Tony Shalhoub as Luigi, Cheech Marin as Ramone, Bob Peterson as Chick Hicks, and John Ratzenberger as Mack. Joining them are Leah Lewis (Elemental) as Pipes, Yuri Lowenthal (Marvel Rivals) as Miles, and Emmy-winning Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph as Ms. Blinker.

The series is executive produced by Travis Braun and Frank Montagna, with Dana Starfield as story editor and Nathan Chew as supervising director.

The Cars franchise, created by John Lasseter, first hit the big screen in 2006 and quickly became one of Pixar’s most beloved worlds. With two sequels, multiple spin-offs like Planes, and over $1.4 billion in box office earnings, it’s safe to say Cars: Lightning Racers will have fans racing to their screens.

Looks like Radiator Springs is about to get busier — and a whole lot faster!
