Andrew Lloyd Webber Wants Nicole Scherzinger to Lead Sunset Boulevard Movie

Andrew Lloyd Webber is setting his sights on bringing Sunset Boulevard to the big screen — and he wants Nicole Scherzinger to shine in the starring role.

Nicole, 47, recently wrapped her acclaimed run as Norma Desmond in the hit revival of Lloyd Webber’s classic musical, first in London’s West End and then on Broadway. The production swept multiple awards on both sides of the Atlantic, with Scherzinger taking home Best Actress in a Musical at the Laurence Olivier Awards and the Tony Awards.

A source told The Mirror: “Andrew wants to make the movie with Nicole. He feels the momentum after the Broadway run needs to be harnessed. There’s a sense this is closer than ever now, which for Andrew is a delight, given the years he’s worked for it. He believes Nicole and the cast have the star power to bring musicals back to the Oscars, just like Les Misérables and Chicago did.”

The stage production was a critical and commercial success, earning prizes for Best Director, Best Musical Revival, and multiple technical categories, alongside Scherzinger’s lauded performance.

Nicole herself has already made it clear she’s ready for the leap from stage to screen, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “There has been some talk. That is my dream, so I’m manifesting that right now.”

With Lloyd Webber’s determination and Scherzinger’s star power, fans may not have to wait long to see Sunset Boulevard lighting up cinemas.
