The creators of the smash-hit animated film, K-Pop Demon Hunters, have shut down the idea of a K-Pop Demon Hunters Live-Action adaptation.
Co-director Maggie Kang explained to the BBC that a live-action version “would feel too grounded” and “wouldn’t work” due to the tone and comedic elements being uniquely suited to animation. Co-director Chris Appelhans added that animation allows characters to execute “impossibly great attributes,” like performing a spinning back-kick while free-falling, which would be “stilted” in live-action.
The creators, however, have hinted at interest in a potential animated sequel.
