John Cena Intercontinental Championship Grand Slam Champion status confirmed November 10 after defeating Dominik Mysterio on WWE Raw at TD Garden in Boston  . After a back-and-forth match, John Cena pinned Dominik Mysterio with an Attitude Adjustment to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time.  WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Triple H Levesque gave tribute calling Cena the greatest of all time before introducing him to the Boston crowd for his final Raw appearance in his home state .


John Cena Intercontinental Championship Grand Slam Champion achievement makes him the latest to reach the modern Grand Slam which requires holding WWE, Intercontinental, United States and World Tag Team Championships . While Cena’s reigns as WWE champion and world heavyweight champion have been talked about the most, he was also a five-time U.S. champion and four-time tag-team champion. He holds the WWE record as the 17-time WWE champion, which he set at WrestleMania 41 when he defeated Cody Rhodes  .


John Cena Intercontinental Championship Grand Slam Champion match happened after Cena’s promo was interrupted by Mysterio, with Triple H stepping in to announce Mysterio would defend his title immediately . For Mysterio’s credit, the son of legendary Rey Mysterio controlled most of the match . The match featured a referee bump with Dirty Dom tapping to the STF before Cena hit another AA to get the three count  .


John Cena Intercontinental Championship Grand Slam Champion celebration caps historic career as he approaches retirement. Cena announced his final in-ring performance will take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 . Despite all his championships and accolades like winning Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank, Cena had never challenged for the Intercontinental Championship on TV, just house shows  . He becomes the 25th Grand Slam Champion in WWE history.
