Popular social media influencer Martins Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, shared the news on his official Facebook page, revealing that VDM was arrested after complying with a police invitation.
In his post, Adeyanju wrote, “Our client, VDM has been detained after honouring police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has been consistent in saying the Nigerian Police are our friends even when we all know they are not.”
The arrest appears to be linked to a recent incident involving the unauthorized use of police uniforms, which VDM showcased in a viral video. Last Thursday, the police condemned this use, stating that they had launched an investigation into the circulating video. The police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized the need for accountability regarding the inappropriate use of official police attire and accoutrements.
