Seun Kuti Slams Kemi Badenoch, Calls for Africa-Wide Ban

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has taken a strong stance against Kemi Badenoch, leader of the UK Conservative Party, urging African governments to ban her from stepping foot on the continent.

During a fiery Instagram live session, Kuti criticized Badenoch for her comments distancing herself from Nigeria, describing the nation as corrupt and highlighting issues like Boko Haram terrorism in the northern region. Badenoch’s remarks were in response to accusations from Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima and others, who accused her of denigrating her Nigerian roots.

Kuti expressed outrage over her comments, accusing her of disrespecting Africans and their ancestors. He remarked:

“Many have been praising this woman [Kemi Badenoch]; someone who has been insulting us, not only us but our ancestors. She said we should pay Europeans for colonialism. She’s saying we should pay them for killing millions of our ancestors, for all the atrocities that they committed in our lands.”

The Afrobeat singer concluded his statement with a call to action:

“She’s someone who should be banned by African governments from stepping into Africa. Once she steps into Africa, she should be jailed.”

Kuti’s remarks have sparked conversations online, with many debating Badenoch’s comments and their implications for her African heritage and political stance.
