Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has earned a prestigious nomination for Best Forward of the Year at the Gran Galà del Calcio awards, a recognition of his exceptional performances for Atalanta in the 2023/24 season. The 27-year-old’s incredible form, which included 14 goal contributions (eight goals and six assists) in the latter part of the season, has propelled him into the spotlight as one of Italy’s most exciting attacking talents.
Lookman’s stellar season was highlighted by a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, a performance that helped secure Atalanta’s victory. His 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions demonstrated his all-around offensive prowess, making him a key player in his club’s success. This form has also earned him a spot among the final nominees for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
In the Gran Galà del Calcio voting, Lookman faces competition from top Italian forwards, including Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, as well as AC Milan’s Rafael Leao. The awards ceremony will take place on December 2nd.
Atalanta is also in contention for Serie A Club of the Year, and manager Gian Piero Gasperini is vying for the Coach of the Year accolade. The Gran Galà del Calcio celebrates the finest talents in Italian football, with winners selected by members of the Italian Players’ Association.
