Ajax Director Alex Kroes Set to Leave Amid Management Chaos

The crisis engulfing Dutch giants Ajax has escalated with the news that Sporting Director Alex Kroes is set to leave the club. Kroes, who has been the anchor in a deeply turbulent period, confirmed his impending departure following the recent decision to dismiss head coach John Heitinga, intensifying the managerial chaos in Amsterdam.

Kroes, who holds the title of Technical Director, offered his resignation last week, though the supervisory board requested he remain temporarily to offer continuity. His final task is reportedly to secure a new permanent manager, a search complicated by recent rejections from club legends like Erik ten Hag. This managerial flux highlights the pressure currently facing the Ajax Director Alex Kroes.

The club is struggling both in the Eredivisie and in Europe, sitting at the bottom of its Champions League group after a series of dismal performances that ultimately cost Heitinga his job. Despite the board’s plea for stability, Kroes confirmed he will hand over his responsibilities as soon as a suitable replacement for the Ajax Director Alex Kroes is found.

The departure symbolizes the deep political and strategic rifts within the club’s hierarchy. As Ajax attempts to navigate a crucial manager search without a committed long-term director, the exit of Kroes leaves the club facing major uncertainty as it attempts to steer itself back toward domestic and European relevance.
