Amazon Q3 Sales AWS Growth Drives Revenue to $180.2 Billion

E-commerce and cloud giant Amazon has announced blockbuster financial results for the third quarter of 2025, with net sales soaring 13% to $180.2 billion. The figures comfortably exceeded Wall Street’s expectations, driven by strong consumer demand and exceptional growth in the company’s most profitable segment. This momentum, achieved during a period of ongoing global economic uncertainty, reinforced investor confidence heading into the crucial holiday season.

The acceleration in the cloud business was the key narrative: Amazon Q3 Sales AWS revenue surged by a robust 20% to reach $33.0 billion, marking its fastest pace of growth in over a year. This performance eased investor concerns and demonstrated that Amazon’s heavy, multi-billion dollar investment in AI infrastructure is beginning to yield substantial returns. The North America segment also posted a strong 11% year-over-year increase.

Overall net income dramatically increased to $21.2 billion, compared with $15.3 billion in the third quarter of 2024. While operating income was affected by one-off charges totaling $4.3 billion—including a $2.5 billion FTC legal settlement—the bottom line was significantly bolstered by a large pre-tax gain from Amazon’s strategic investment in the AI firm, Anthropic.

The impressive financial results highlight Amazon’s success in leveraging its diverse business segments. With both retail and Amazon Q3 Sales AWS segments firing on all cylinders, the company projects continued double-digit growth for the fourth quarter. The market response has been overwhelmingly positive, with the company’s stock climbing sharply in after-hours trading.
