Asake’s “WHY LOVE” Tops Apple Music Nigeria as Most Streamed Song of 2025

Afrobeats star Asake has officially cemented his dominance over the Nigerian streaming landscape, as his hit single “WHY LOVE” was confirmed as the Most Streamed Song of 2025 on Apple Music (Nigeria). The popular track topped the platform’s official year-end ‘Replay ’25’ chart, highlighting the massive cultural impact of his distinct sound across the region.

Released in February 2025, “WHY LOVE” was Asake’s first single under his new independent label, Giran Republic. Produced by the legendary Magicsticks, the song captured audiences with its seamless blend of emotional storytelling and infectious Amapiano rhythms. Its commercial success proved that Asake’s signature sound continues to be one of the most bankable in Nigerian music.

The top song recognition places Asake at the forefront of a highly competitive Afrobeats field, though the final Apple Music Nigeria chart showed strong performances from other titans. While “WHY LOVE” was the top single, the chart revealed that Wizkid took the title of Top Artist of the Year in Nigeria, driven by the success of his album Morayo.

The achievement confirms Asake’s consistency in releasing chart-topping material. His ability to fuse deeply personal themes with dance-inducing production ensured “WHY LOVE” remained a fixture on playlists throughout the entire year, underscoring why it was the most-streamed track among Nigerian music lovers in 2025.
