The family of Afrobeats superstar Asake has broken their silence following a viral controversy involving a man, Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his father.
The Ongoing Dispute
The drama began when a video surfaced online showing Odunsi pleading for financial assistance, citing severe health issues. The elderly man claimed he has been battling a stroke since 2022 and alleged that Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, has ignored his calls despite his deteriorating condition.
Conflicting reports have emerged about Asake’s childhood. Some sources claim Odunsi was absent from his son’s life, while others suggest he was very much present, and it was Asake’s mother who distanced herself.
In response to the allegations, Asake shared a cryptic TikTok video in Yoruba, expressing his frustration:
“You can’t please everyone, you can’t please the world. But anything you are doing, just do it for God.
My own father wants to cajole me, and I have sent so much money to him. I have struggled for so many years, but they want to make life tire me.”
New Allegations: Abandoned Daughter and Financial Demands
As the controversy continues, Asake’s family has not only called on him to support his alleged father but has also accused him of neglecting a daughter named Zeenat and her mother.
The family urged the singer to take responsibility for both his father and his alleged child, even offering to conduct a DNA test to confirm Zeenat’s paternity.
In a new video, Odunsi’s family made a direct appeal to the singer, demanding that he purchase a ₦50 million house in Isale Eko, Lagos, which could generate rental income to support Odunsi’s medical and living expenses.
A woman featured in the video addressed Asake directly:
“I am begging you, Ololade Mr Money, please come and do the needful. Even if Nigerians donate ₦10 billion to this man, just ₦1 million from Asake would make him happier.
If you don’t want to support him directly, buy him a house in Isale Eko where he can earn rent to survive. In this Isale Eko, you can find a house for ₦40m or ₦50m that he can use to collect rent. Also, if you are in doubt about Zeenat, the mother has agreed to a DNA test.”
What’s Next for Asake?
Asake has yet to make a direct response to these new allegations, but his TikTok message suggests he feels pressured by the situation. Fans remain divided, with some sympathizing with the singer’s plight, while others believe he should step up and support his alleged father and daughter.
