Baby Driver’ Actor Hudson Meek, 16, Dies After Tragic Accident

Hudson Meek, a teenage actor best known for his role as the young version of Ansel Elgort’s character in the 2017 film Baby Driver, has tragically passed away at the age of 16 following an accident in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.

Meek suffered fatal injuries on December 19 after falling out of a moving vehicle on a street in the Birmingham suburb. He succumbed to his injuries two days later, as confirmed by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

A promising young talent, Meek made his on-screen debut in The Santa Con (2014) and appeared in several TV series, including MacGyver. Beyond his acting career, Meek was a football player at Vestavia Hills High School, an avid traveler who had visited all 50 U.S. states, and a passionate choir singer who loved creating music playlists for friends.

In a heartfelt post on Meek’s Instagram, his family reflected on his impact: “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

The family has planned a funeral and memorial service on Saturday, which will be livestreamed on his Instagram account, allowing fans and loved ones to celebrate his life.

Authorities in Vestavia Hills are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
