Barcelona Forward Lamine Yamal to Undergo Tests After Fresh Injury Ahead of Atletico Clash

Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat to Leganes brought more bad news as teenage forward Lamine Yamal suffered a fresh injury, raising doubts about his availability for the upcoming clash against Atletico Madrid.

The 16-year-old sustained the injury in the 15th minute after a heavy challenge from Leganes’ player Neyou. Although visibly in pain and clutching his right ankle—a recurring trouble spot this season—Yamal pushed through for another 50 minutes. However, his restricted movement, reluctance to engage in duels, and shift from his usual right-wing role to a more central position signaled a problem.

Barcelona confirmed post-match that Yamal would undergo medical tests to determine the extent of the injury. This latest setback is particularly concerning as it affects the same ankle that sidelined him in November with a grade one syndesmosis injury. That earlier injury caused Yamal to miss key matches, including fixtures against Real Sociedad, Celta de Vigo, and Brest.

With Atletico Madrid looming on the schedule, Yamal’s potential absence could significantly impact Barcelona’s attack. The team has already struggled without him in recent games, and fans will be hoping for positive news from his medical assessment.
