The crucial decision was made after the club secured the first occupancy license covering Phase 1B of the renovation project from the City Council and La Liga. This approval allows the stadium to operate at a reduced capacity of 45,401 spectators, with access granted to the Lateral, Tribune, and South Goal sections.
During the construction period, Barcelona hosted their home matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
