Ben Affleck has spoken out for the first time since his split from Jennifer Lopez, offering candid thoughts on their relationship and its end.
In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Affleck maintained a respectful tone towards his former partner, stating, “This is somebody I have a lot of respect for.” Despite the intense public interest, he downplayed the drama, calling the breakup “quotidian” — a word that simply means ordinary or everyday.
When asked about the reasons behind the breakup, Affleck admitted it was far from the scandalous tales many might expect. Instead, he described it as something that “sounds more like a couple’s therapy session.”
“For one thing, you start going, ‘OK, clearly this person has got these issues. Clearly, they have these issues.’ And the reason I don’t want to share that is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable,” he explained.
The comments follow Lopez’s emotional remarks at the premiere of her film, This Is Me Now: A Love Story, in February 2024. At the time, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share her life with someone she loved.
While Affleck and Lopez’s rekindled romance captivated fans, the couple’s breakup has now brought renewed speculation. Despite the separation, Affleck’s measured and reflective tone suggests no lingering bitterness.
