Burna Boy Dominates 2024 Grammy Nominations: Congratulates other African Stars

Since his breakthrough on the international stage in 2019, Burna Boy has ceaselessly championed African music globally, amassing awards and captivating audiences in prestigious venues.

In the recently unveiled 2024 Grammy nominations list, Nigerian luminaries Davido, Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr joined Burna Boy and South African sensation Tyla in the spotlight.

In the inaugural category of the African Song Performance award, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boy’ from his 2023 album ‘I Told Them’ earned a nomination alongside Asake & Olamide’s ‘Amapiano,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Davido’s ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys, and Tyla’s ‘Water.’

Setting a new benchmark, Burna Boy emerged as the highest-nominated Nigerian with a remarkable four nominations, including Best Melodic Rap Performance for ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage, Best Global Music Performance for ‘Alone,’ and Best Global Album for ‘I Told Them.’

Expressing his gratitude on social media, Burna Boy acknowledged the Grammys for the honor and extended congratulations to his fellow African nominees, describing them as exceptionally talented.

“Once more, my deepest gratitude to the Grammy Academy for this incredible honor. A HUGE congrats to the talented African artists who were nominated alongside me. The true win lies in sharing these moments with you all at my shows and expressing it through my music,” he posted.
