Cardi B Claps Back at Elon Musk: ‘I’m No Puppet, I’m the American Dream

Cardi B isn’t holding back after Elon Musk took a jab at her support for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. The Tesla CEO recently called her a “puppet” for Harris, sharing a clip of her rally speech on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words. The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.” But Cardi had something to say about that—and she wasn’t about to let it slide.

In a fiery response, Cardi B defended her roots and rise to fame, clapping back,

I’m not a puppet, Elon. I’m the daughter of two immigrant parents who busted their butts to make ends meet. I’m a product of welfare, of Section 8, of poverty. I’m the result of a system stacked against people like us.”

She didn’t stop there, throwing in a cheeky dig: “PS fix my algorithm.”

Cardi’s rally speech took aim at issues close to her heart, like women’s rights, as she declared herself an underdog, just like Kamala. “Women have to work ten times harder, perform ten times better, and still get questioned,” she said. “I can’t stand a bully, but just like Kamala, I always stand up to one.”

The exchange is heating up just as the 2024 U.S. presidential race comes down to the wire, with Harris facing off against Donald Trump. Cardi’s passionate defense, combined with her story of overcoming hardship, paints her as more than just a celebrity voice but a representation of the American struggle and resilience. Could her words strike a chord with voters? Only time will tell.
