Cardi B Sued Over 2023 Mic-Throwing Incident in Las Vegas

Cardi B is back in court — but this time, it’s not about the music.

The Bronx-born rapper is being sued for assault and battery following her infamous microphone-throwing incident during a 2023 performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas. According to TMZ, the lawsuit comes from an unnamed woman who claims she was struck by the mic after tossing a drink at Cardi mid-performance.

Footage from the incident quickly went viral, showing the moment the fan splashed Cardi with liquid, prompting the rapper to hurl her mic in retaliation. While the woman insists she was simply trying to cool Cardi off like other fans had been doing, rumors spread that the cup contained alcohol and ice — not just water.

Interestingly, the lawsuit is a plot twist. Although the woman initially expressed plans to sue shortly after the event, the investigation was ultimately dropped. Now, nearly two years later, she’s moving forward with formal legal action.

Not everything about the drama was negative, though. The microphone in question — owned by a company called The Wave — was later auctioned off for charity. The eBay listing climbed to $99,000, with proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas.

The legal development comes at a critical time for Cardi, whose long-anticipated sophomore album Am I The Drama? is building serious momentum. Her latest single, “Outside,” debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 last month, marking her 13th top 10 hit. It also made history as the first female rap song to debut at No. 1 since her own 2024 smash, “Enough (Miami).”

Am I The Drama? will feature that hit, as well as fan favorites “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion and “Up,” making the 21-track album already eligible for RIAA Platinum certification before release.

As fans gear up for the album drop, this lawsuit adds unexpected turbulence to Cardi’s rollout. Whether it delays anything remains to be seen — but one thing’s for sure: drama always finds its way into Cardi’s story.
