Cardi B’s Lawyer Slams Microphone-Throwing Lawsuit as a “Cash Grab”

Cardi B is back in the headlines — but not for music. The Grammy-winning rapper is now facing a civil lawsuit stemming from her infamous microphone-throwing incident in Las Vegas back in 2023. But according to her attorney, Drew Findling, the case is nothing more than a “money-making scheme.”

The woman behind the lawsuit, who remains anonymous under the name “Jane Doe,” is suing Cardi for assault, battery, negligence, and emotional distress. One of her more bizarre claims? That the microphone being auctioned for $99,000 added to her emotional trauma.

In a statement obtained by TMZ, Findling dismissed the case entirely, calling it a weak attempt to exploit a celebrity:

“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up.”

The drama started during a day party performance at Drai’s Beachclub when Cardi asked fans to cool her off with water due to the scorching Vegas heat. But when Jane Doe allegedly threw a cold drink mixed with ice, Cardi retaliated by hurling her microphone — a moment caught on video that quickly went viral.

While Cardi B reacted positively when other fans splashed her earlier, she later noted that Doe’s drink “came too fast” and hit her with ice, which felt more aggressive. After a thorough police investigation, no criminal charges were filed.

Cardi has stayed silent publicly, choosing instead to focus on her upcoming album, which fans are eagerly awaiting. Meanwhile, this lawsuit is shaping up to be a legal battle with more headlines than heat.
