Cassie says she and Diddy aren’t headed for holy matrimony just yet.
Diddy basically started the engagement rumor by throwing up a picture of a ring
on Instagram earlier this week. The photo was coupled with the suspicious
caption, “Baby you like it?” Cassie even
responded (and was snapped
wearing a ring), yet that doesn’t mean they’re ready to settle down. She
announced the news with a post saying “I need more” on Instagram
yesterday, followed by the statement “Happy & in love -not
engaged,” then deleted the entire message.
The 27-year-old singer and the 44-year-old father of six have reportedly been
dating for several years. Diddy was formerly linked to model Kim Porter, mother
to his twin daughters Jessie James and D’Lila Star, biological son Christian
and stepson, Quincy.
Late last year, he admitted to not being ready to tie the knot. “I think a
lot of people put too much on marriage and not enough on happiness,” he
said on ABC’s The View. “I’m happy, anybody that is in my life is happy. I
just want to be happy and I think it’s important for you to protect your
happiness and to love yourself, because then you can love other people the
right way.”
So why did Diddy post a picture of a ring if it wasn’t about popping the
question?
He and Cassie haven’t explained those details, but maybe Diddy was pulling one
of DJ Khaled’s moves. Khaled cooked up his own faux-proposal story by asking
for Nicki Minaj’s hand in marriage last summer to promote his Suffering from
Success album.
