Cristiano Ronaldo has made history as the first men’s player to score 900 goals in official matches. The milestone was achieved during Portugal’s UEFA Nations League match against Croatia on Thursday, September 5, in Lisbon.
Ronaldo reached this unprecedented achievement with a precise volley from 6 yards out, finishing a cross from Nuno Mendes to make it 2-0 in the 34th minute. Portugal went on to win the match 2-1.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who previously broke the 800-goal barrier in late 2021, is now 58 goals ahead of his closest rival, Lionel Messi, who has 842 goals. Brazilian legend Pelé stands third with 765 goals.
In addition to this incredible feat, Ronaldo also holds the record for the most international goals, with 131 in 209 appearances. Messi and former Iran forward Ali Daei are tied for second place with 109 international goals each.
