Davido Opens Up on Coping with Loss and Life’s Misconceptions

Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has shared insights into how he deals with the pain of losing loved ones. The star, who has faced multiple tragedies, revealed that his faith plays a crucial role in keeping him strong through life’s toughest moments.

Davido has experienced profound grief over the years, having lost his mother, Mrs. Victoria Imade Adeleke, when he was just 11 years old. More recently, he endured the heartbreaking loss of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, along with several close associates, including Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and his personal photographer Fortune.

In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, Davido opened up about his emotional journey, saying, “I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of eleven. I’m just being strong. I did a song called Stand Strong. I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”

Beyond discussing how he handles grief, the Timeless hitmaker also addressed some common misconceptions people have about him.

“I think sometimes, people think I am not approachable. Another misconception is that people also think I am too accessible,” he said.

He further explained that growing up in a large family made him accustomed to having people around and that his success is a gift from God. “My talent and success is God-given,” he added.

Despite the challenges, Davido continues to rise above adversity, with his faith and music serving as his pillars of strength. His ability to navigate life’s tragedies while staying grounded has made him a source of inspiration to many.
