Global pop star Dua Lipa has opened up about her latest album, Radical Optimism, missing out on nominations for the upcoming Grammy Awards—a move many fans have labeled a “snub.”
The Levitating singer, who has previously won three Grammys out of ten nominations, found herself left out of this year’s contenders despite her third album’s commercial success. Singles like Houdini and Training Season soared into the UK Top 10, yet the album faced lukewarm reviews compared to its predecessor, Future Nostalgia.
In an interview with Billboard UK, Dua shared her thoughts on the situation, keeping a positive outlook:
“I’m so proud of Radical Optimism and where it’s brought me. I love that album, and I’m having the time of my life performing it live. I’ve been able to do things I could only dream of this year, so I’m really grateful.”
While acknowledging the disappointment, especially as a female artist, Dua praised the strong presence of women in this year’s nominations:
Although it would have been nice to be recognised by your industry, I’m so proud seeing so many incredible female artists nominated at the Grammys this year.
Dua emphasized that the lack of recognition doesn’t shake her pride in her work:
Overall, I’m really happy with where I am. It doesn’t change the way I feel about the record at all.
Despite the Grammy snub, the Radical Optimism era has been a whirlwind for the British star. This year alone, she headlined at Glastonbury, wowed audiences at the Royal Albert Hall, and kicked off major award shows like the Grammys and Brits. On top of that, she managed to spark a bizarre new TikTok trend with her viral love for mixing Diet Coke with pickle juice—proof that Dua Lipa’s cultural influence remains as strong as ever.
As fans rally behind her, Dua continues to embrace the spirit of “radical optimism,” showing that awards don’t define the impact of her artistry.
