EA $55 Billion Acquisition Takes Gaming Giant Private

Electronic Arts (EA), the video game publisher behind Madden NFL and The Sims, has agreed to a massive $55 billion acquisition to be taken private.

The deal, the largest all-cash private equity buyout in history, is led by a consortium that includes Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. EA shareholders will receive $210 per share. CEO Andrew Wilson is expected to remain in charge, with the company aiming for long-term growth away from public market scrutiny.
