The world of British luxury fashion is mourning the loss of a royal favorite as Eponine London, a bespoke womenswear label often championed by the Princess of Wales, is set to close its doors. Founder Jet Shenkman confirmed the disappointing news on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, announcing that the Autumn/Winter 2025 (AW25) collection would be the brand’s final offering after 15 years in business.


Taking to social media, Shenkman shared, “This feels surreal to write… but the time has come for us to close our doors in pursuit of pastures new.” She thanked fans for their “hugely touching commitment” to the brand. The closure of Eponine London Closing Down marks a significant blow to the small, slow-fashion couture market, which has struggled amid wider economic pressures.


Eponine London was beloved by the Princess of Wales precisely for its uncompromising aesthetic: meticulous tailoring, bold patterns, and vibrant color palettes inspired by the classic silhouettes of the 1950s and 1960s. Among her most iconic looks from the label are the stunning burgundy coatdress worn to the 2022 Westminster Abbey Christmas carol concert and a brightly tailored red coat worn during a visit to Wales.


The brand’s departure highlights the constant challenges faced by small luxury houses, even those benefitting from the “Kate Effect.” While the Eponine London Closing Down announcement is a sad chapter for royal fashion followers, it reinforces the enduring power of the Princess of Wales to champion British design, even as those small businesses navigate increasingly difficult industry landscapes.
