Former NBA player Glen “Big Baby” Davis is back in the spotlight, and not for his on-court skills. The ex-Boston Celtics forward is facing a lawsuit from pharmaceutical scientist Dr. Lyndsey White, who claims Davis derailed multiple business ventures they embarked on together, including a BBQ sauce brand and a potential fragrance deal with Chris Brown.
According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, Dr. White alleges that in April 2021, she and Davis agreed to create “Big Baby Q” BBQ sauce. Shortly after, White says she loaned Davis $30,000 to venture into the marijuana industry. However, she claims Davis never repaid the loan, instead allegedly using the funds to cover his legal fees.
The partnership took another turn when Davis introduced White to Chris Brown, who reportedly expressed interest in launching a fragrance line with her. White says this promising opportunity fell apart after Davis’s October 2021 arrest for defrauding the NBA Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan. She alleges Davis’s behavior became aggressive, making her fear for her safety, and forcing her to cut ties with Brown, which she describes as a significant loss.
White further claims that Davis profited from selling the BBQ sauce they created together but failed to compensate her for her contributions to the business. She is now suing Davis for breach of contract, intentional misrepresentation, and other charges, seeking unspecified damages.
Davis, who played in the NBA from 2007 to 2015, is currently serving a 40-month sentence at FPC Duluth in Minnesota following his 2021 conviction. While he may be behind bars, this legal battle could have far-reaching consequences for the ex-athlete.
