Season one of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is here, but fans are up in arms over a major change to the game’s battle pass. While Call of Duty continues to rake in billions each year, thanks to its in-game transactions and battle pass system, players are frustrated with a downgrade to a feature they’ve come to expect in the franchise.
In previous Call of Duty titles, completing the battle pass would reward players with enough COD Points to buy the next season’s pass, often leaving them with extra points for cool skins or bundles. However, Black Ops 6 has slashed this bonus, offering only 1,100 COD Points in season one—just enough to cover the next battle pass. This has sparked outrage, with players taking to social media to accuse Activision of being greedy.
The decision comes as the game hits Xbox Game Pass, increasing accessibility, but some speculate that Activision may be looking to boost spending from a larger player base who didn’t pay the full $70 for the game upfront. Fans are holding out hope that with enough feedback, Activision will reconsider and return the extra COD Points in future seasons.
For now, though, Black Ops 6’s battle pass remains a source of frustration, overshadowing what has otherwise been a positive reception to the game.
