Flavour Reacts to Court Sentencing of Man Impersonating Him in $53,000 Fraud Case

Nigerian singer Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour N’abania, has reacted to the sentencing of Courage Ikpaka, who was convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos for impersonating the artist and defrauding an American woman of $53,000.

On Tuesday, September 3, Justice Dehinde Dipeolu sentenced Ikpaka to two years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Ikpaka impersonated Flavour, promising to organize shows in the U.S. and receiving payments through Bitcoin wallets, which he later converted into naira.

During the investigation, EFCC found that Ikpaka fraudulently obtained the money from a U.S. citizen, Yvelte M. Thompson, and recovered N7.9 million from the defendant. Ikpaka was sentenced with the option of a N2 million fine, and the recovered funds were forfeited to the victim.

Flavour responded to the news on his X handle, posting a photo of Ikpaka with the caption, “One down. Ndi uchu!”, expressing relief at the conviction.
