Former NFL Star Gosder Cherilus Arrested for Unruly Behavior on Delta Flight

Former NFL offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus has made headlines for all the wrong reasons after being arrested for allegedly urinating on a fellow passenger during a Delta flight. The incident occurred on a flight bound for Dublin, Ireland, which had to be rerouted back to Boston’s Logan Airport due to his “unruly” behavior.

The 2008 first-round draft pick, who played for teams like the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts, was taken into custody upon landing and is facing charges of disorderly conduct. The Boston Police confirmed the arrest, adding another chapter to Cherilus’ post-NFL life.

Delta Airlines issued a statement regarding the incident: “Delta flight 154 from Boston to Dublin on August 17 returned to Boston Logan due to an unruly customer and was met by law enforcement. Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel.”

While the other passengers were eventually able to continue their journey to Ireland, Cherilus is scheduled to be arraigned in a Boston court.

Cherilus, who had a notable career at Boston College before being selected 17th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, played 113 out of 117 games during his first eight seasons. After a lucrative $35 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts, making him the highest-paid right tackle at the time, he spent two seasons there before finishing his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, retiring in 2017.

The incident marks a dramatic fall from grace for the former football star, whose on-field achievements have been overshadowed by this recent scandal.
