Fuji legend Alhaji Musibau Alani has firmly dismissed viral rumors suggesting he “snatched” Fali, the mother of Afrobeats sensation Asake, from her former husband, Mr. Odunsi, popularly known as Malo.
Setting the Record Straight
In a candid chat, Alani — known for his hit “Stand Well Well” — clarified that while he is indeed Asake’s stepfather, the story circulating online is far from the truth.
“I met Fali as a single mother, already separated from her husband,” Alani stated. “At the time, I had no idea who her ex-husband was. We got along, she moved in with me, and I raised her son, Ahmed (Asake), like my own.”
Acknowledgment from Asake’s Father
Further refuting the claims, Alani recalled an encounter with Malo, who worked at a council office in Lagos Island. “When we met, Malo openly expressed his gratitude, asking his colleagues to thank me for taking good care of his son. There was no resentment or accusations — just acknowledgment.”
No Bandstand at the Naming Ceremony
Addressing additional claims that he performed at Asake’s naming ceremony, Alani was unequivocal. “I wasn’t present, and I certainly did not play at the event. Those stories are pure fiction.”
The Allegations Against Asake
The controversy comes on the heels of Malo’s accusations that Asake had neglected him despite his success. While this has ignited heated discussions on social media, Alani’s clarification adds a new perspective to the unfolding family drama.
With Alani’s side of the story now public, fans are left reflecting on the dangers of misinformation and the complexities of family relationships in the spotlight. As for Alani, he remains focused on celebrating his legacy as a Fuji music icon — and his role as a father figure to one of Afrobeats’ brightest stars.
