Funke Akindele Warns Against Piracy Ahead of Everybody Loves Jenifa Premiere

Nollywood star and filmmaker Funke Akindele has issued a strong warning to fans about piracy as she prepares to release her highly anticipated movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, in cinemas on December 13, 2024.

Taking to social media, Funke passionately condemned the act of recording clips in cinemas, labeling it as piracy and urging Nigerians to take a firm stand against it. She expressed how piracy undermines the hard work of filmmakers and cripples the industry.

In her post, Funke wrote:

SAY NO TO PIRACY!!! Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!! Please stop it!!! Piracy is killing us!! I worked so hard on this project. Please, I’m pleading, do not be caught promoting piracy!!!

The actress emphasized the significant effort and resources invested in her latest project, sharing how piracy negatively impacts not just her work but the entire Nollywood industry.

To combat piracy, Funke revealed that security measures have been put in place at cinemas, including the arrest of defaulters caught recording clips during screenings.

As Everybody Loves Jenifa hits the big screen, Funke’s message is a rallying cry for audiences to respect filmmakers’ hard work and support the fight against piracy.
