Get Ready: First Look at Avatar: Fire and Ash Drops This Weekend—But Only in Theatres

Fans of James Cameron’s Avatar universe are in for a treat—Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment in the epic sci-fi saga, is debuting its first trailer this weekend, but there’s a catch: you’ll need to hit the cinema to see it.

According to the film’s official Avatar X account, the trailer will be shown exclusively in theatres ahead of Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps. That means no online release—at least for now.

What to Expect

The trailer, previously shown behind closed doors at CinemaCon in April, takes viewers back to Pandora and introduces two new Na’vi tribes:

The Wind Traders, who soar through the skies in balloon-like airships.

The Fire People, fierce warriors who ride flaming flying beasts.

The footage teases escalating conflict between the clans. At one point, a Na’vi is struck by a flaming arrow, and we hear Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) tell Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), “We can not live with this hate.”

What’s the Story This Time?

Set after Avatar: The Way of Water, the new film follows Jake and Neytiri as the battle intensifies—not just with humans, but among the Na’vi themselves. The main threat? The Ash People—a rogue Na’vi tribe that has rejected the spiritual ways of their ancestors and turned against Jake’s family.

Release Date and Future Films

Avatar: Fire and Ash hits cinemas on 19 December 2025.

• Two more sequels are already scheduled:

21 December 2029

19 December 2031

With the first two films raking in over $2 billion each, expectations are sky-high. If Fire and Ash follows suit, Avatar will become the only franchise with three films to cross the $2B mark.

Catch the trailer in theatres this weekend—but only if you’re seeing Fantastic Four: First Steps.
