HBO has officially renewed its global hit prequel series, House of the Dragon, for a fourth season. The announcement was made on November 20, 2025, over half a year before Season 3 is even scheduled to premiere in Summer 2026.
The network also confirmed a rough release window for the new season, stating that House of the Dragon Season 4 is currently slated to air in 2028. This two-year gap maintains the pattern established by the show’s previous seasons.
While showrunner Ryan Condal had previously hinted that the “Dance of the Dragons” story would wrap up after the fourth season, HBO’s official announcement did not confirm that Season 4 would be the final installment, leaving the door open for a potential extension of the series.
