“I Am the Plantation!” – Blackface on Why Plantashun Boiz Reunion Attempts Keep Failing

Blackface has spilled the tea on why every attempt to reunite the legendary Nigerian music group, Plantashun Boiz, has hit a dead end—and it all boils down to his exclusion.

Appearing on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast, the singer didn’t hold back as he revealed that his former bandmates, 2Baba and Faze, tried to revive the group without him, only to fall flat.

Without me, they have tried and they have failed. Many times

Blackface said.

But what I must say is, I’m the plantation. So let it be known.

Plantashun Boiz, formed in 2000, gave us timeless hits before splitting in 2004 after just two albums. The trio briefly reunited in 2007 for a collaborative project, but any hopes for a lasting comeback have been dashed by long-standing disputes.

Blackface has been vocal about his grievances, often accusing 2Baba of stealing the 2004 hit African Queen and even alleging that 2Baba sabotaged his career. However, in a surprising twist last year, Blackface publicly apologized to 2Baba for any “wrongdoings, knowingly or unknowingly,” hinting at a possible truce.

In September, he reignited fans’ hope by calling for a proper reunion, emphasizing that “unity is strength, not division.” While fans are rooting for a comeback, the iconic trio’s reunion remains a distant dream—for now.

Could the plantation ever truly grow without Blackface? Only time will tell if Plantashun Boiz can make magic again, or if this story will remain a nostalgic chapter in Nigerian music history.
