Popular Nigerian content creator Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, better known as Shank Comics, has announced a surprising career pivot — he no longer considers himself a skit maker.
The revelation came during a lighthearted video call with fellow comedians Carter Efe and Sydney Talker at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, where Wizkid headlined a sold-out concert. The trio, known for their comic brilliance, were bantering over Shank’s failure to seize content opportunities with Wizkid or Asake, who also performed at the event.
But Shank’s response took a more serious tone:
“I no longer think like that. I’m no longer a skit maker,”
he said calmly, leaving Carter and Sydney stunned before bursting into laughter at the unexpected shift in identity.
From Skits to Streaming
Shank Comics, once a household name in Nigeria’s booming skit scene, has steadily been redefining his digital footprint. He now holds the title of Nigeria’s most-streamed Twitch creator, building a loyal fanbase through gaming, live commentary, and real-time interaction. His growth has even caught global attention — he recently won a $10,000 (₦16 million) grant from Kai Cenat’s “Streamer University”, an initiative aimed at empowering content creators in the streaming space.
While some fans were surprised by his “no more skits” stance, others see it as a natural evolution for a creator whose talent has already broken traditional format boundaries.
